It took longer and was more complicated than I anticipated so I feel a little battered and bruised like this sign but I hope I have everything working well enough to re-enable logins and registrations. I still have some of the old pictures that need to be relinked but on the good side there are a lot of new ones here.
You will notice that the URL has changed from www.kull.ws to www.kull.us. I was not intending to do that but I had to at least temporarily for technical reasons that will bore everyone but the tech-geeks. It may eventually change back but for now, if you accidentally type in the old one, it should still route you here. Most people will need to re-register for full access. I did keep the accounts set up for anyone who had been a recent visitor. If you are one of those, you should have already received a note from me.
As mentioned in my last post, the main genealogy software has been through four major revisions since I last actively worked on the site. There are a lot of new features that will hopefully make your visits more interesting. A few of note:
- Relationship calculator: You can now set a default person to check relationships against. Whenever you click on an other individual’s info screen, it will automatically tell you if and how that person is related to the default person.
- Google maps: Locations can now be “geocoded”. If you click on a person’s screen who has geocoded locations for things like birth, death, and burial, it will have an event map with colored “pins” to identify the locations. Just click the event map link to display the Google map display of the geocoded locations.
- Image Maps: In photos of large groups, people can be identified by holding the mouse pointer over their faces.
- Photo/Document uploads: It should be easier to contribute photos and documents than in the past. On every individual and family page there will be a link labeled “Submit Photo/Document”. If you have something you would like to contribute, you can just click that link and there will be a submission form and upload button.
- Access control: If you are an adequately identified (and registered) relative, you will have access to some information that will not be available to the general public.
Thanks to those of you who have kept in touch for the last several years when nothing new has appeared here. Hopefully this site will see a lot more activity from here on out.
Glad to see you back I know you have did a lot of work into this family web page and I thank you.
