Notes - Bernard Weldon Porter, age 83, was born August 25, 1920 to Velmer E. Porter and Nona Henderson Porter. He passed away on Wednesday, October 8, 2003. He was raised near Lampasas, TX in the Nix Community. He married Sybil January on August 23, 1941. Mr. Porter was a Veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Marine Corps, and was a member of Harlandale Lodge No. 1213 A.F. & A.M. in San Antonio since 1958. He retired from Kelly Air Force Base in May 1979. Mr. Porter was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Porter O'Neill. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sybil Porter; daughter, Jill Porter Glynn of San Antonio; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, brother, Bernice Porter of Bend, TX; numerous nieces and nephews. The Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2003 from 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Hwy. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 10, 2003 at 3:00 P.M. at the funeral home with Rev. Cedric Wesson officiating. The Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park under the auspices of Harlandale Lodge No. 1213 A.F. & A.M. Arrangements are with Sunset Funeral Home.
