  Obituary	Winfield S. Vandruff, aged 70 years, a widely known and highly respected citizen, died this morning at the Waynesburg hospital. About two weeks ago he underwent an operation and later complications developed which resulted in his death. Mr. Vandruff was a geologist and greatly interested in the oil and gas interests of the country. He had located some of the great oil fields of the United States and had traveled extensively, having visited almost every state in the Union. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church. Born in Perry township, a son of the late John and Rachel Mapel Vandruff, he had made his home the greater part of the time in Waynesburg and vicinity, except for a time when he lived in the state of California. In early life he followed surveying and at the same time studied geology. He was married in 1876 to Miss Matilda Fox, who died April 16, 1921. He leaves two sons, Ottley E. Vandruff, of Waynesburg, and Ross E. Vandruff, of San Diego, Cal. One sister, Mrs. Eli (Nancy) Fox, of Kirby, survives and the following half brothers and half sisters; Mrs. Samuel (Flora) Gass and Mrs. James (Mary)Moore, Spraggs, and William Vandruff and Frank Vandruff, of Perry Township.
