Just thought I would share a-bit of my life with my family, friends that have known me for years, new friends and some of my email friends that don’t know very much about me…

My Old Home-Place about 30 years ago

There was something supremely satisfying about a life so self-contained and complete unto itself… I lived such a life on the Alabama and Tennessee State Line Road… Now I often sit by my duck pond allowing my mind willingly to go back over the years and re-live the secluded and isolated childhood days I lived here… This simple little cabin and the few acres it sat on provided all we needed to sustain a rewarding life…

A few hundred yards from the cabin there was a pristine spring with water pure enough to drink in case our hand dug well should go dry during a long, dry and hot summer… Justfood…As a child I roamed theses woods and streams exploring all that nature had to offer… At that time I didn’t gather all the wisdom that was offered by that life style but I learned enough to realize that those were the most precious days of my life, the days I spent with my mom, plowing the fields, doing the farm chores and cutting the wood for those cold winters that was sure to come… In the winter time, you could always find my mom and I sitting by the old wood heater, trying to stay warm while quilting quilts for our beds…

This was a lifestyle that supplied me with enough knowledge that I was able to do most of the repairs around my home and on any type of machinery that I might be the owner of… This life taught me many things, “never give up the ship just because the waters has gotten ruff, don’t stop pushing forward just because the winds are blowing so hard” and most of all, “don’t stop LOVING mankind and nature just because they may not suit you because they all are God’s Creations and God makes no mistakes”….

I am proud to share this tid-bit of my life with you and I hope you all enjoyed reading this… Like most of you, I spend my time, now in a world more complex than the one I did while growing-up and the “now” me could not live those days of yore… However, it is good, sometimes, to retreat, at least in imagination to a quiet place, where one can refresh and restore their soul… With that spirit, I invite you to share with me the tranquil pleasures of this peaceful scene… “My Old Home Place”

Thanks for reading this… Happy thoughts, Doris
