  Excerpted from Beman/King Genealogy by Virgil Hoftiezer; May 1997.The earliest existing documented record of Thomas Hardwick is a Real Estate and Personal Property Tax list from Buckingham County, Virginia. Thomas Hardwick appeared on this tax list from 1782 until 1801 (he owned from one to four salves at each listing). It is believed that Thomas Hardwick married Elizabeth _______3 in Buckingham County sometime around 1776. There is a Thomas Hardwick listed in Madison County, Kentucky in the 1800 census, but whether this is the correct Thomas Hardwick is not proven. Two sources list Thomas' birthdate and birth place as either 1750 in Amherst county, Virginia4 or as 1755 in Albemarle county Virginia5.Thomas Hardwick,Sr. was listed on the Adair County, Kentucky tax list in 1806 (but not 1805). He died in Adair County Kentucky in March of 1807. His will, written 28 February 1807, was probated in Adair County, KY on 6 April 1807.
