      Erma Riggins Looper, 82, formerly of 4 Stonewall Lane, Greenville, died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2003.

      A native of Greenville County, she was the daughter of the late Arabella Smith and Samuel Leonard Riggins.

      Mrs. Looper was a graduate from Furman University with a B.A. in Music, majoring in piano. She was awarded a three-year fellowship to the Juilliard Graduate School and did post-graduate study in London. She was active in performing and teaching piano. Mrs. Looper was a member of the Crescent Music Club and the Greenville Music Teacher’s Association.

      Mrs. Looper is survived by two daughters, Ann Stewart Looper of Taylors and Ruth Burdine Looper of Warne, N.C. Other survivors are her beloved sister-in-law, Eunice Looper of Greenville and cherished nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Garth, Leon and Wayland Riggins.

      A Memorial Service will be held at the Chapel of John Knox Presbyterian Church on Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, at 2 p.m. There will be a gathering of friends immediately after the memorial service at the church.

      A private inurnment at Berea First Baptist Church Cemetery will be at a later date.

      Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
