      HUNTSVILLE -- Funeral for John Milton Caudle, 79, of Huntsville will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Valhalla Funeral Home with Dr. Ralph Langley officiating.

      Burial will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 8 at the funeral home.

      Mr. Caudle died Monday, Feb. 14, 2000, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born Feb. 11, 1921, in Gorgas to Stephen Anthony and Una Mae Wheeler Caudle. He was a World War II veteran who served with the 8th Armored Division and was awarded the Bronze Star in connection with military operations in Germany. He was an engineer on the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo missions and retired from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration in 1978. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Huntsville.

      He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Williams Caudle; three sons, Stephen Caudle of Trinity, Dan Caudle of Birmingham and John Caudle of New Hope; and seven grandchildren.

      Pallbearers will be Bill Howard, Jim Maples, Andy Cline, Keith Miller, Gil Caudle and Carl Goss.
