Mrs. Atkinson was born on May 12, 1932 in Monroe Co., Mississippi a daughter of Robert and Madgie Minor Sizemore; attended school in Monroe Co.; resident of the Wayside Community for past 64 years; she attended Winfield Methodist Church; and she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by all her brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas H. "Tom" Atkinson of Wayside; one son, Thomas Steven "Steve" Atkinson and his wife, Janice of Winfield; two daughters, Pat Sawyer and her husband, Gary of Aberdeen, MS and Sandra Atkinson Norris and her husband, Robert of Winfield; six grandchildren, Barrett Atkinson, Taylor Atkinson, Susan Barrett, Angela Stomberg, Kristy Carothers and Kent Norris; eight great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, July 22, 2013 at 11:00 AM from the McGraw Memorial Chapel of Miles Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Old Union Cemetery with Tim Meherg and Tom Moye officiated. Visitation will be Monday at the funeral home from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
