Gender Female Obituary - Mrs. Lela Simmons Melson of 519 Scenic Drive, Fayetteville, died Thursday in the Lincoln County Hospital. She was 87.
The funeral was Saturday afternoon at Ralston-Brown-McCauley Funeral Home in Fayetteville with the Rev. Terry Little officiating. Burial was in Riverview Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville beside her late husband, T. G. Melson, who died in 1970.
A native of Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Jared Montgomery and Isadora Cowley Simmons. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Fayetteville.
Survivors include two sons, T. G. Melson, Jr., of Milton, Florida, and John Edgar Melson of Opelika, Alabama; two sisters, Mrs. Mable Pack and Mrs. Corona Franklin, both of Fayetteville; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
