Notes - Samuel was the son of Isaac Whitt and Elmina Elizabeth Browning. He was born in Lincoln County, TN and raised on, or near, the Alabama/Tennessee State Line. His siblings include Robert David, Willie F., Nancy Virginia "Jennie", Elica J., Andred Glastone "Dock", Isaac Jefferson "Ike", Benjamin Franklin "Ben". William Thomas "Bill", Edith M. "Edie". John Browning "Brown", Lewis L, and Charles B. "Bunk" Whitt. The only children in this family that left the AL/TN area were Samuel who died in Fannin County, TX, and Andrew "Dock" who died in Portales, Roosevelt County, New Mexico.
Samuel Henry is believed to have been married three times: Melissa Anne Hopwood the d/o Doctor Green Hopwood and Sophronia J. McIntosh on 25 Feb 1877 in Madison County, AL. They had 3 chiuldren: WIllie Belle, Sophronia Angeline, and Athy C. Whitt. Samuel married 2)Marh Frances Franklin Coats. His 3rd wife was a lady named Pearl.
