  	James Hardwick died at the home of his son, Frank, six miles southeast of Carrollton Thursday morning, December 21, 1911 at 3:00 a.m. of Bright's Disease, age 72 years. Mr. Hardwick was one of the old native born Carroll Countians, he having been born in what is now known as Wakenda Township in 1839. Mr. Hardwick had been a familiar figure in Carrollton since it was a village and he had an extended acquaintance here, for he had always lived within a radius of a few miles of Carrollton. His last visit to Carrollton was the latter part of last week. His fatal illness was of only four days. Mr. Hardwick's wife, who was a Miss Gosnell, died nearly twenty years ago, leaving three daughters and one son. All four are still living--Mrs. Nettie Winfrey, of Colorado; Mrs. Millard Dunn, of Atwood, Kansas; Mrs. Walter Woolston, and Frank Hardwick of this county. For many years Mr. Hardwick had lived with his son. Mr. Hardwick was a member of the M. E. Church, South, for a long time. The funeral arrangements will not be completed till the daughters can be heard from. Interment will take place at the Cary Cemetery.
