• Notes

  From "Tennessee Cousins - A History of Tennessee People" by Worth S. Ray The Edens family, of Moore County, was originally from South Carolina.  Samuel Edens married Nancy Franks in South Carolina, though they may have been married in Limestone County, Alabama.  At any rate Benjamin M. Edens was  born of this marriage in Madison County, Alabama in 1822, and the parents came to what is now Moore County in 1825.  Ben Edens married Pauline Blythe in Moore County and they had nine children.  From the Gowin Family History:   Ben had a brother John who married Polly Blythe, sister of Pauline. World Family Tree Vol. 10 Tree 405;  Vol. 13, Tree 2567. 1870 Census Lincoln County, TN:  Anderson Edens, 54, resided with family.
