He retired from Redstone Arsenal and he was a disabled veteran. He is survived by his wife: Judith Atkinson Walker of Union Grove; sons: Garland Van Johnson of Ryan Community and Duane Walker of Union Grove; daughter and son-in-law: Beverly and Wendell Stephens of Union Grove; brothers: Marlon Walker of Arab and Jessie Walker of Lacey's Spring; sisters: Mella Jo Blaxton of Union Grove, and Sherry Saint and Sheila Bailey of Morgan City; grandchildren: Spencer Johnson, Tori Walker, Anna Stephens and Cassidy Stephens. He was preceded in death by daughter: Dawn Walker; daughter-in-law: Sherry Ransom Johnson <http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=12953474>; grandson: Chance Tyler Johnson <http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=12953438>. The funeral was at 11 a.m. Monday, March 22, 2010, at Gober Funeral Chapel, with Harry Saint officiating. Burial was in Gilliam Springs Cemetery, with Gober Funeral Chapel directing. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Hospice of Marshall County. Pallbearers were Larry Walker, Jason Saint, David Hornbuckle, Michael Walker, Terry Walker and Clayton Wheeler.
