Notes - Funeral services for Neva Machen, 89, of Lampasas were July 2, 2005, at First Street Church of Christ in Lampasas. Burial followed at Nix Cemetery.
Mrs. Machen died June 30.
She was born Nov. 17, 1915, in Sweatout, to V.A. and Algie Pearl Hutchison Porter. She attended Sweatout School and was baptized in a creek near Sweatout.
She married Milton George Machen on Aug. 4, 1934, in Lometa.
Mrs. Machen was a member of First Street Church of Christ and was a lifelong resident of Lampasas.
She enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening and cooking.
Survivors include daughters, Avilla Corbin, and husband, Roland, and Sharon Moore, and husband, Buddy, of Lampasas; sons, Clifford Machen, and wife, Leslie, of Lampasas, and Alfred Machen, and wife, Bobbye, of Brady; sisters, Alena Hutchison, of Dilley, Edna Carroll, of Tuscon, Ariz., and Reba Weeks, and husband, V.T., of Lampasas; brothers, Clayton Porter, of El Dorado, and L.A. Porter, of Lampasas; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1991; and by four brothers, Marlin Porter, Alton Porter, Clinton Porter and Clifford Vaughn Porter.
The family requested memorials be made to Nix Cemetery; Forehand-Lancaster Memorial, in care of First Street Church of Christ; Heart of Texas Bible Camp, P.O. Box 830, Brady, TX 76825; or to the charity of one's choice.
