• Notes

  Middle name spelled "Geretta" in Edwin C.'s letter. FRANCES GARETTA WILSON was born in Culpeper, Culpeper County, Virginia on 1 March 1768. She was the daughter of Lieutenant JOHN WILSON, who served under FRANCIS MARION during the War of the American Revolution and was killed in the Battle of Eutaw Springs, South Carolina on 8 September 1781. She was married to JOEL HICKMAN in 1786 in Culpeper County, Virginia and they moved to Clark County, Kentucky in about 1794. She died there on 22 March 1847.
