  From WorldConnect, Tom Holwager, tomholwager@dellnet.com, which includes the following note: He was a soldier in the American Revolution. Clarence Hickman and his brother Hanson visited the Hickman graveyard and.." found Joel's stone, whichhad been pushed over by cows. He held the stone erect and I took a picture of it. On it is inscribed: 'Joel Hickman, Born Aug. 10 1761. Died July 16, 1852. He was a soldier of the Revolution." From Findagrave: JOEL HICKMAN was the son of Colonel JAMES HICKMAN [b. 1724 in Hanover County, VA; died 1816 in Clark County, KY] and HANNAH LEWIS [b. 1722 in Hanover County, VA; died 1822 in Clark County, KY]. He was born on 10 August 1761 in Culpeper County, Virginia and served as a soldier in the Revolutionary War for which he received a pension in Clark County, KY "for service as a private, 1779 - 1781". He was married to FRANCES GARETTA WILSON in 1788 in Culpeper County, VA and they became the parents of 12 children. They moved to Clark County, Kentucky in about 1794 and remained there until their deaths.
